WELCOME

Thank you for stopping by to visit our home pages. We have been working with dogs and their behavioral idiosyncrasies for over 45 years, and hope to continue helping K9’s and their owners with the training of their dogs for many years to come.

Over the years we have come to discover that most problems with our K9 friends are self fulfilling behavior issues. It does not matter whether it is a family pet, an obedience trial champion, your family farm companion or a top winning Conformation Show Dog, behavior issues without a doubt can keep you from developing the loving relationship with your dog that you had envisioned when you got your dog/puppy.

Are you living with a dog who hates having its nails trimmed, won’t get off the couch or even share it with others, or who piddles when you come home or company arrives?

Or how about the dog that barks incessantly when company comes, or when in the car while you are shopping at the mall? What about the dog that growls and snaps at people? Or the ones that nip when you take the ball or the sock or your shoe away from them?

And then of course, there are our favorites, the ones that drag their owners down the road during their daily ritual of the walk, or have to be dragged away from all the fences of the dogs on your route while your dog and the captive dog behind the fence yell, scream and posture, and you drag and yell- “no fido, no fido no fido”, until you are out of sight!!

If any of these few examples spark a cord with you, or bring familiar images to mind, just think about how it makes you feel toward your “best friend”. Are you prepared to spend perhaps fifteen years with those feelings, or have you already spent 9 years this way?

At Okanagan K9 Behavioral Academy these behaviors are our specialty. These behaviors are not necessary and in most cases can be effectively redirected to a more productive behavior pattern.
